My name’s Jamie

I’m a twenty-something situated in Tampa, Florida with my boyfriend, Chris. I always dreamed of traveling the world,
learning languages, and living life adventure after adventure. When I finished college, I took a leap of faith and
moved to Spain for a year. During those months, I learned all about Spain from Spaniards, including the language,
history, food, customs, and the way they see the world. I absolutely fell in love with learning about
how people from other countries and cultures live and think.

For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to just open a book or go to a website and
learn anything I wanted about a certain culture, whether it be the gestures they think are
offensive, seemingly strange laws, or even if they think it’s weird if I don’t wear shoes at home.
Thus, I created Crashed Culture.

This is where I share weird tidbits that I learn while abroad, like
why bars and restaurants in Spain hang ham from the ceiling. This is also where I help motivate
people to accomplish their language learning goals. I give people the kick in the butt that I could
never get until I literally moved to another country and needed to speak a foreign language to
survive. I know not everybody has the opportunity to up and move across the ocean, so I want
to help people understand the world through language without leaving home.
